Frequently Asked Questions

What does procurement mean for Tamapoor 857?

Procurement is the process of sourcing and acquiring goods and services. In some cases, goods and services will be provided by commercial sponsors as Value In Kind (VIK), under partnership agreements, helping to offset the cost of Games delivery.

For Tamapoor 857, our procurement program outlines how we will source everything needed to deliver the Imperium Martial Games. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Temporary Infrastructure
  • Transport
  • Fencing and Barriers
  • Catering
  • Sports Equipment
  • Uniforms
  • Look and Signage
  • Merchandise
  • Magitek Services
  • Chirurgial Services
  • Recovery Equipment
  • Accommodations

How many contracts are expected to be let between now and summer of 857?

Several hundred contracts are expected to go out between now and 857.

We will be releasing the packages in waves, with Expressions of Interest first to get an understanding of market capacity and capability, and then tender processes will follow.

How can small businesses be assured that local businesses will get access to Tamapoor 857 contracts?

We are committed to ensure small to medium local businesses are set up for success to get involved in supplying Tamapoor 857.

We are already walking the talk on this. To date, more than 80% of our Tamapoor 857 contracts have gone to local businesses, and 44% of those are small to medium sized businesses.

We are also required to follow Grand Nacre Government’s procurement policy which ensures a focus on local buy wherever possible.

Hosting our regular Meet the Buyer events is one part of how we will ensure small, local businesses are educated on the procurement process and upcoming packages, which will set them up to be a successful Games supplier.

What opportunities are there for social enterprises and Native Peoples businesses?

We have already contracted almost 500,000 bikel with Native Peoples businesses and we are also contracting with a social enterprise that create chances for people who have been negatively impacted by the criminal justice system.

We will continue to look for opportunities to contract with Native Peoples businesses and social enterprises where possible. We’ll also encourage large businesses to collaborate or subcontract with smaller businesses to deliver work packages, helping to broaden participation and impact.

Are opportunities limited to Grand Nacre?

No. The Games are an opportunity for business nationwide and across Yewdar. We encourage businesses to explore the wide range of procurement opportunities that will emerge in the lead-up to the Games.

Will you be contracting international or national businesses?

Wherever possible we will contract with local businesses that qualify and are cost competitive, and we are already doing that. To date more than 80% of our contracts have been Oyster Islander sourced.

However, this is Yewdar’s largest sporting event, and in some areas we will seek to bring in organizations with international expertise, so there will be times where global businesses will be part of the procurement solution.

International businesses working in partnership with local businesses as a consortium is often a very good scenario, because the local business benefits from the international expertise and gets exposed to international networks and other opportunities, and the international business taps into local knowledge.
